My husband and I went down to Reunion, near Choisuel, to congratulate our friend Daniel Jean- Baptiste on his new gallery. Daniel has renovated the family plantation homestead into a show case for his paintings on silk. So people, there will soon be another venue in which to purchased quality art in St. Lucia. See more of Daniel’s work here:

As with most of us, I take a good amount of pills daily. That leaves me with a lot of empty plastic pill bottles. I figure there must be something I can do with them. So I have been covering them with polymer clay, making a decorative way to contain pills or anything that will fit in the bottles. The more I do them, the more they develop and become real vehicles of artistic expression for me.

red enamel on silver

With this ring , I wanted to match the color of the cubic zirconium in enamel panels around the ring. Some enamel colors, like red and yellow will react with the silver and turn into muddy colors. I used silver metal clay to make the ring. After it was finished, I fired 22k gold paste in the panels and fired again. The transparent raspberry enamel was applied and fired as usual. The gold allowed the red/orange color to keep its brilliance. Now I have to get back to making house warming gifts. Have a good holiday everyone.
